Tomen Corporation Introduces New Fabrications for 1999
NEW YORK, 1/30/99 - Tomen fabrics introduces nylon-66 high
tenacity 30 and 40 denier ripstops and taffetas that are extremely
lightweight yet strong - perfect for outerwear and sleeping
bags. All GelanotsĆ coatings and laminations, as well as DWR,
can be applied to nylon-66. High tenacity nylon-66 is stronger
and softer than nylon-6 and its melting point is higher providing
better colorfastness and more durable seam seals. Even with
a 1,000mm, 10,000g/sqm/24h coating, it weighs less than 2oz/sq
yard.
Another innovation from Tomen is improved Technofine knitted
and woven fabrics created for softness and suitable for use
in shirts and pants (yarn dyed) and first layer and bike shirts
(microfiber double knit). Technofine is a high-tech polyester
yarn that has a "W" shaped cross-section and a pill rating
of 4 on most constructions. This unique cross-sectional shape
provides increased ability to absorb, wick away moisture and
dry quickly, better than any other wicking yarn.
Tomen's new UV protected fabric, Aquamiracle has a back of
Technofine yarn to provide excellent wicking function, while
the face side is Sunpaque, a new Tomen fabrication containing
titanium for superior ultra-violet protection, even when wet.
Aquamiracle can be knitted or woven supplying a seemingly
endless number of variations with a SPF of 40, depending on
the construction. All this and it's not see-through!
Stretch wovens are another group of fabrics Tomen has launched.
Made from textured nylon or polyester yarns, these remarkable
stretchables are woven in either twill or dobby constructions.
Another advantage to these textured stretch wovens is that
Tomenís Gelanots® laminations can be applied making stretchable,
waterproof breathable fabrics. In addition, Tomen still offers
traditional stretch fabrics made with Spandex in both polyester
and nylon from 30 denier to heavier fabrics.
Tomen Fabrics has expanded their offerings for wicking finishes.
Both polyester and nylon knits and wovens can have wicking
finishes applied, including various woven constructions utilizing
Supplex and yarn-dyed fibers. Tomenís wicking finishes are
suitable for shirts, pants, and shorts.
